What Is Over/Under? How to Predict Total Goals
Over/Under doesn't care who wins or loses — it only bets on whether the two teams' combined goals will exceed the line. It's one of football's most popular markets because you don't have to pick a side, just judge whether it'll be a goal-fest or a tight, low-scoring affair.
In short: Over/Under bets only on the combined goal total. "Over 2.5" wins on 3+ total goals and loses on 2 or fewer, regardless of who wins.
How to Read the Line
The most common is "Over/Under 2.5 goals": a combined 3 or more goals = Over wins; 2 or fewer = Under wins. Because it's a half-goal line, the total can never be exactly 2.5, so there's always a winner and no push.
A whole-goal line (e.g. 3 goals) can push: if the total is exactly 3, the stake is refunded.
How the Model Estimates Goals

How to Pick Over/Under With Expected Value
Once you see the over/under probability, don't just look at how high it is — compare it against the odds to compute expected value. For example, if the model gives "Over 3.5" a 37% probability at odds of 3.51, EV = 0.37 × 3.51 − 1 ≈ +30%, which is a value bet.

Is the over/under line always 2.5?
No. Common lines include 1.5, 2.5, 3.5, 4.5, and quarter lines like 2.75. The higher the line, the harder the Over hits and the higher the odds.
Why do some lines read 2.75?
2.75 is a split line halfway between 2.5 and 3: half the stake is on 2.5 and half on 3. At settlement you can end up winning half or losing half.
